Product Summary
EB24 windows use the slimmest steel frame sections on the market to provide elegant, slender, sight lines. These slim frames mean that EB24 windows maximise the glazed area, and high-performance 24mm double-glazed glass units use the latest glass technology to optimise solar gain thereby saving energy through reduced use of artificial lighting.
Clement’s modern, EB24 steel window range has been designed for fenestration projects where a traditional steel window appearance is required. EB24 is an excellent choice for replacing old Crittall windows.
The EB24 range is appropriate for both refurbishment and new build projects.
Features
EB24 is a “made to measure” window system, and features that can be specified include alternative options for glazing, locking systems and shaped or curved windows.
Glazing
• EB24 can be supplied with Clear Glazing, or
• Georgian bars, using Clements G+ welded bar system. G+ uses engineered welded steel strip in a horizontal, or horizontal and vertical pattern, or
• Leaded Lights, using real lead that is soldered by hand in a diamond- or rectangular-pattern.
Locking system
The EB24 range of windows is available either with traditional single-point locks, or with our unique and highly secure multi-point locking system. This superb system is tested and proven in accordance with security standard BS EN 7950.
Frame Colour
Window frames are powder coat painted; we recommend a range of six RAL colours (but can supply in any RAL colour to special order).
Shaped /Curved windows
The EB24 range can be supplied with shaped or curved heads, and can also be supplied “curved on plan”, in each case supplied with a 24mm double glazed unit.
Windows and Doors available
A wide range of windows is available, including Fixed lights and Opening casements that can be supplied top hung, bottom hung, side hung.
Windows are normally supplied open-outwards, but inward-opening windows are also available to order. Glazing is generally fixed from the outside, glazing fixed from the inside is also available.
Single and double doors are available.
Manufacturing Specification
EB24 windows are manufactured in compliance with BS 6510. The steel sections used for Clement window and door frames are precision-rolled in Switzerland to meet Clement’s unique design profiles and tolerances.
All steel frames and ancillaries are hot dip zinc galvanised to EN ISO BS:1461.
The galvanised frames are painted with a factory applied polyester powder coat paint finish to EN ISO BS:6497, or BS EN 13438, with a minimum paint thickness over the zinc of 60 microns on significant surfaces.

Manufacturing Description
Steel profiles are hot rolled exclusively for Clements in Switzerland using (as source material) only recycled mild steel. Frames are manufactured with corner joints mitred, welded, dressed square flat and finished smooth.
Composite windows can be assembled by connecting windows horizontally and/or vertically with mullions and/or transoms of hot rolled slim steel profiles, box sections, tubes, or box mullions manufactured from sheet steel.
Small panes can be formed with tee glazing bars whose ends are tenon-riveted or welded to the frame and whose cross-joints are interlocked and welded rigid.
Pressed metal cills are available in a choice of profiles.
Glazing
EB24 windows are double glazed using high performance 24mm insulating glass units. This specification incorporates the latest glazing technology by using a 4mm inner pane, 16mm cavity with Argon gas fill, and a 4mm outer pane. The panes are joined using special low conductivity spacer bars. This achieves a superior performance double-glazed unit (DGU) with centre-pane “U” value of 1.2W/m²K.
Most of our windows are factory-glazed. However our concealed fixings mean that fixed-light windows need to be glazed on site after the frames have been installed. Glazing Beads are made of aluminium or GRP, and locate into factory-fitted carriers. The glazing method, including use of mastics and sealants, is in accordance with the manufacturer’s preferred glazing system.
Weatherseals
Opening casements and vents are weathersealed using twin high density close-cell foam seals. Under no circumstances should these weatherseals be painted.
Dimensions
Windows and doors, both individual windows and composite panels, are made-to-measure.
Individual window and door sizes can be supplied within the limits shown in the table below.
(Sizes outside these limits may be considered after consultation with our technical department).

* The combination of width and height is to be such that the window perimeter does not exceed the maximum in the table, and that the ratio of lesser to greater dimension does not exceed 1:8 when using 4mm glass.
Nominal steel profile width
• Fixed lights (perimeter) - 36mm
• Opening casement frame - 36mm
• Opening casement and mullion - 51mm
Sealant or Glasket width is 2mm, thus overall typical sight line for fixed light (perimeter) frame, inclusive of sealants, is 38mm
Building Regulations
EB24 windows comply with Part L of UK Building Regulations as updated October 2010, and obtain a Window Energy Rating (WER) of “C”.
Fixing
Steel windows can be fitted in to timber subframes, or fixed direct to brickwork, concrete or stone. Windows are fixed with fixing lugs and stainless steel screws that are appropriate to the structural opening.
Accessories
Pressed metal cill flashings and other accessories are available, finished to match window frames. Night ventilators can also be fitted in accordance with Part F. |
